AGIR meets with British Embassy delegation

AGIR representatives were invited to the British Embassy’s visit to Goma Slam Session. Goma Slam Session and AGIR have a terrific partnership working together to address the volcano eruption. Multiple slammers are volunteer organizers for AGIR’s field mission. J.T. Stanley, Guilain Lama, and Jacinthe Maarifa (also an accomplished slammer in the Goma Slam Session collective) represented AGIR to the British Embassy and discussed the impact that slam and the slammers were having in the field. Through slam and other activities, the slammers and our field organizers are providing therapy, building confidence, and creating a space for critical thinking, questioning authority, and articulation.

The slammers, AGIR representatives, and British delegation had productive conversation with intrigue on all sides about how to advance our converging interest for peace in Congo. AGIR and Goma Slam Session are continuing a dialogue with British Embassy to explore potential future collaboration.
